ACYLGLYCINES, QUANTITATIVE, URINE

test app

TEST NAME: ACYLGLYCINES, QUANTITATIVE, URINE
Diagnostic specificity of inborn errors of metabolism via urine acylglycine testing is useful only for the selected inborn errors of metabolism; it is recommended that urine organic acids be ordered and run simultaneously due to the limited number of metabolites included in this urine acylglycine test
Testing Algorithm: The following algorithm is available if needed
LAB DEPT: Core Lab Sendouts

Critical Values:
Not established
Limitations:
Due to the limited number of metabolites included in the acylglycine analysis, it is recommended that Organic Acids Urine also be performed concurrently.
Methodology:
Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS)
Test Classification:
This test was developed and its performance characteristics determined by Mayo Clinic in a manner consistent with CLIA requirements. This test has not been cleared or approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
For SLCH Laboratory use only
Lab Processing instructions:
If specimen is turbid or bloody, centrifuge to separate. Aliquot specimen into a 10-mL urine screw-cap transport vial. Place transport tube in dry ice to freeze immediately.

Processed Volume:
10.0 mL (minimum 4.0 mL) urine

Transport Temperature:
Frozen

Analyte Stability:
Ambient: NA
Refrigerated: 9 days
Frozen: 416 days

Notes:
DO NOT freeze/thaw
Per Mayo: If collection volume is <4.0 and unable to collect more, submit as much specimen as possible in a single container and Mayo will determine if volume is sufficient for testing.
